August 2012

Well after months and months of real estate dominating my evenings and open homes my Saturdays we finally put an offer on a house at a gorgeous part of North Gold Coast called "The Haven"  A big house on 2,000m of land - plenty of room for Geoff for a shed.

However it was not meant to be and caused us to really think about what we wanted from life.  The house and land would have meant a lot of work at weekends, a big drive 45 mins each way for me for work (I would have to give up my two hours special morning time at home!)  We would have poured a lot of money into sheds, pools, fencing and indeed the house needed some major TLC inside.  So all in all a good outcome.  Anyway here are some photos of what might have been!

The Haven

All lowsets on large land - this was the neighbours

However all good things came to those who wait and we found a house that will suit us very well with nothing to be done - except Geoff wants to build a shed.  Just 8 mins from work and a nice home.

SOLD!!

Nice neat grounds

Road View
Sneak peak - more to come once organised October!
The first weekend in August we met Nick, Mel and children in at Southbank.  A lovely dinner and I will post the photos however they are a little grainy due to the light.

We took the kids home for the night and in the morning headed to the Rocklea markets.

The flowers looked lovely
We had a holiday on Ekka day but Geoff and I both worked however we met Nick and Mel and the kids for an easy tea at the markets and then had to rush to get to the mission.

Face painting at Bunnings - loving the chips

Gorgeous sunset - truly at spectacular over here
One night a couple of the girls and I went into Southbank for dinner - we found a new restaurant right on the River called the Jetty - it will definitely be a favourite!

Our tastes differ!!

Then most exciting Dave and Gil came for the weekend - a little treat for Geoff turning 60.  We had a marvellous weekend - mostly around food!!

Called into see the kids - bought sugar laden treats!

Gilly and Dave

Yummy!
Then it was off to the Kangaroo Cliffs cafe for lunch.  Lovely view but that is all it has going for it!

Good to have you back here in Qld!
That night we went into my new favourite restaurant "The Jetty" - a great night.

Next morning we headed to the Rocklea markets - trying to give Gil and Dave a flavour of our usual haunts.

Looking fairly happy

Like I said - the weekend all about food!
We were then going to head to Sanctuary Cove but there was a big motorway jam so we headed off into the unknown and came across Sirromet Winery which was spectacular!

Beautiful

A wedding being held
Sunday lunch we headed to Springfield Lakes to a cafe on the water

Sad to say goodbye to Gilly and Dave - hopefully they will be back to live sometime.

The final weekend in August I needed to chill so we packed up the 30 second Oz tent and went to one of my favourite places in the world - Byron Bay.  The camping ground was right on the beach and 100m from town.  We met my old boss and his wife for dinner on Saturday night and it was just a great relaxing weekend and got me excited again about camping (after the torrential rain the last time!). Walks on the beach, sunbathing in August, great cafes - we even saw dolphins.  Enjoy the photos:

Awesome breakfast

and a silver fern coffee
Our cosy bed

Chilling out!
I am not even going to write captions for the photos - they speak for themselves!!
